Creating a template

Starts a new PowerPoint template, tied to a Qlik app, and opens it in desktop PowerPoint ready to design with the KPImailer add-in.

  1. Go to Templates in the sidebar, select PowerPoint on the toggle at the top, then select New template.
  2. In New PowerPoint template, give the template a clear Name, choose the Qlik server (on-premise or cloud), then pick the Qlik app it should draw data from. Only published apps on the chosen server are offered.
  3. Select Create and open in PowerPoint. A toast confirms (“Template created. Opening in PowerPoint…”) and KPImailer launches desktop PowerPoint with the new, empty presentation.
  4. In PowerPoint, open the KPImailer pane from the KPImailer ribbon group (Edit template), design the slides - covered in the rest of this chapter - then Publish. KPImailer saves your changes back to the template.

Back on Templates (with PowerPoint selected), every template shows the Qlik app it’s tied to, when it was last Updated, and a Bindings count - how many Qlik objects and tokens are placed in the deck. Use Edit in PowerPoint to reopen it, Download to get a standalone .pptx, or Delete to remove it.

A sales team wants a polished monthly deck. On Templates they select PowerPoint → New template, name it “Monthly sales deck”, choose their Qlik Cloud server and the Sales_App app, and select Create and open in PowerPoint. PowerPoint opens with an empty presentation - they continue by designing the slides.
