Licensing your installation

Activates a fresh RLV Scribe installation with a trial license, by registering it with Relevance Management. This happens once per installation, before anyone can sign in.

Who does this

Normally done once by whoever installed RLV Scribe. If your installation is already licensed, skip ahead to Signing in.

Steps

1. Open RLV Scribe’s address in a browser - https://<your-server>:7011. A fresh, unlicensed installation goes straight to the registration screen; you don’t need to sign in first.
2. Fill in your organization’s details:
   • Company Name, Country, Contact Name, Contact Phone Number, and Contact Email - all required. Relevance Management uses these to identify your license and to reach you about it.
3. If this server reaches the internet only through a proxy, turn on Use Proxy Server and fill in the Proxy Address (starting with http:// or https://), plus Proxy Username / Proxy Password if the proxy requires authentication.
4. Select Register. RLV Scribe contacts Relevance Management’s licensing server and, on success, shows a confirmation with the trial license’s validity date.
5. Select OK to continue - you’ll land on the sign-in screen next; see Signing in.

There’s no activation key or client code to type in - registering creates one automatically, tied to this machine.

When to change this

• Renewing or upgrading your license happens outside RLV Scribe - contact office@relevance.ro. Once they confirm the change, come back to the admin console and select Retry on the license banner (see What can go wrong) to pull the updated status - no need to register again.
• Moving RLV Scribe to a different server requires a fresh registration on the new machine, since the license is tied to this machine’s identity.

What can go wrong

Caution

Registration fails immediately. This server can’t reach https://api.relevance.ro:5001. Confirm outbound network access to that address, or fill in your organization’s proxy details if internet access here requires one.

Caution

“License expired” banner appears in the admin console, and writeback stops working across every connected Qlik app. RLV Scribe checks your license status automatically once a day, and blocks all API calls except sign-in while it’s expired. Contact office@relevance.ro to renew, then select Retry on the banner - RLV Scribe re-checks immediately rather than waiting for the next daily check.

Worked example

A new RLV Scribe installation is opened in a browser for the first time. It goes straight to registration; an administrator fills in the company’s name, country, and their own name, phone, and email, leaves the proxy toggle off (this server has direct internet access), and selects Register. A confirmation shows a trial valid for the coming weeks. Weeks later, the trial is close to expiring, so the administrator emails office@relevance.ro to arrange a full license; once confirmed, they return to the admin console and select Retry on the license banner rather than registering again.
